Noah and Kayley’s Salt River engagement session was one of those summer evenings that just felt easy. We met out on Bush Highway about an hour before sunset, with the river running higher than I’ve seen it in a while. Plenty of people were out enjoying the cool water, but we got lucky and found a quiet little spot all to ourselves.

I love how playful the two of them are together. It never felt like there was too much pressure to make anything happen. They laughed, messed with each other, waded out into the water, and were completely comfortable being themselves. Some of my favorite moments came from just letting them interact and seeing where things went.

And apparently where things went was a sword fight.

Toward the end of the evening in the desert, they found some sticks and naturally turned them into swords, which felt like a pretty fitting way to finish. Completely unplanned, a little competitive, and very much them.

We wrapped up as the light disappeared behind the mountains, with wet feet and plenty of laughs.
